Homemade granola is simply the best. It’s freshly made every time, it’s completely customizable and the crunch is insane.
Ever since I learned how to make my own granola, I completely stopped buying granola from the store. And here’s why you should start making your own granola too:
- It’s the FASTEST and EASIEST recipe ever. You just mix everything together in one bowl and it takes less than 5 minutes… 8 minutes tops.
- You can completely customize this granola recipe! If you don’t like almonds, then swap it with cashews, peanuts, hazelnuts, pistachios, walnuts, pecans… anything your heart desires! You can use coconut oil instead of olive oil, almond butter instead of peanut butter, maple syrup instead of honey. You can even add freeze dried fruit or even chopped chocolate after it’s been baked for a little extra somethin’ somethin’. The world is your oyster!
- Homemade granola is also so much better for you… no additives, preservatives or extra unwanted sugar. Most importantly, you know exactly what’s going in your food. I make my granola once every 1-2 weeks, so I know it’s fresh!
INGREDIENTS:
200g (2 cups) whole rolled oats
70g (1/2 cup) almonds, chopped
15g (1 tbsp) chia seeds
85g (1/4 cup) honey
13g (1 tbsp) olive oil
16g (1 tbsp) peanut butter
Pinch of flaky sea salt to finish
METHOD:
- Preheat oven to 150C (300F).
- Pour all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and scoop out the granola mixture onto the parchment in a 1-cm-thick layer.
- Bake for 15 mins and gently break apart the granola into chunks. Then rotate the pan and bake for another 10-15 mins, or until golden brown.
- Finish the granola with a pinch of flaky sea salt and allow it to fully cool on the pan.
When it’s fully cooled, store it in your favourite air-tight mason jar or glass container and it will keep for 1-2 weeks!
